Weeds are the bane of every gardener. It’s a stone cold fact. Gardens and weeds – you cannot have one without the other. It is no different for the organic gardener although the approach and some of the things you will use as an organic gardener to tackle your weeds is different to the traditional gardener as you will be using the natural twin attack of compost and mulch.
There is no escaping basic weed control however. You can get in to the routine of this by keeping an eye on your garden regularly and using a small hoe to cut out any small weeds you see appearing before they can grow to do any real damage. Your organic garden will have the sweet, naturally developed soil you have cultivated yourself which can make the chore easier. Do this thoroughly before applying any mulch.
When anything you have planted in your garden gets a firm hold you might think about putting down to have the effect of holding in any moisture and helping to keep weeds at bay by starving them of light. As you are gardening organically use material from natural sources. For example composted down grass cuttings or chopped leaves. This will have the added benefit of nourishing the soil as the natural mulch decomposes.

If any weeds do manage to struggle through your layer of organic mulch it is likely that they won’t have got too much in the way of roots behind them and you may be able to nip them out of the soil fairly easily.
If mulching isn’t practical for you then a natural alternative to protect your organic gardening principles is to use newspaper as a ground cover which will decompose naturally. Just put down four or five layers between your plants and cover with a thin covering of soil to weight it down. This has the same effect as mulching and the weeds will be starved of light and find it very difficult to grow through.
Even though the natural weed control measure we have explored above should help keep the darned things down you will not get rid of weed completely. So allied with your organic measures you will still have to undertake some traditional weed control to keep your garden in tip-top shape.
This is where your friend the hoe comes to your aid again. Use it to chop off any stubborn weeds from their roots just below the surface of the soil and be sure to collect the chopped off weeds and dispose of them. Do not leave them in your garden or you will be seeing them again.
Hoeing and pulling up weeds is unfortunately manual labor and no fun. Though the satisfaction of seeing your healthy, thriving and well kept organic garden and all you grow in it will make it worthwhile. It is simply part of weed control to back up the organic mulching and composting techniques you will also use.

If you search market you will find many books giving information on how to be a good gardener. But instead of using these bit complicated books, how about to use a better method, which include very safe and easy gardening? Hydroponic Gardening is such simplified gardening method that has replaced soil with water as a basic source of nutrients. Roots of every plant run deep in soil to search for water, since water is most important factor for their growth. But, as we are using water in hydroponic system, roots does not grow further to search water. Another advantage of this amazing method is we supply the essential nutrients directly through the water. This results in more growth in quality and also in productivity. Today, many gardeners and farmers are using this highly advanced method to grow more fruits and vegetables with excellent quality in their farms.
The Hydroponic gardening method is the best replacement for your traditional gardening method. There are three basic types of hydroponic gardening. Aeroponic, Water Culture, and N.F.T i.e. Nutrient Film Technique. These three techniques are bases on same principle of using water instead of soil. In an Aeroponic system, the roots of plants are hanged up in air and are steamed with nutrient solution vapors. We do this misting periodically so the roots do not get dried out. One can use advanced supporting system like short cycle timer and misting pump. Once you have set the accessories correctly you need not to pay attention frequently.
N.F.T is also one such hi-tech method where you use constant flow of nutrient solution for plant roots. Still if you are looking for simplest for of Hydroponic system then you have water culture. Here, a Styrofoam platform; as it can float directly on a solution, holds the roots firmly on the nutrient solution. Only you have to place these plants with Styrofoam in nutrient solution filled tub. And simply keep replacing water and add essential nutrients in it.
Indoor Hydroponic Gardening
Gardening is most favorite pastime for many people. You will find small garden outside every house. Many interior decorators are also suggesting indoor gardens. Selected plants placed inside house creates pleasant environment. Science has also proved that keeping plants inside your house control your emotions and helps to reduce your stress. That is why; new theories have been discovered to make your house greener. The green color itself is pleasant to feel. We can paint our house in green but the presence of natural green color creates pleasing environment inside a house.
When plants are inside your house, surely you need to clean the area regularly. From the fact soil and dust is major difficulty for many houses; no one likes to look his/her house dirtier. Hence science has developed a theory called Hydroponic Gardening, which will make your house absolutely soil free. This particular gardening system uses water instead of soil. So, you need not to waste your time to clean your house frequently.
The hydroponic in its simplest form means; growing plants with the help of water only, instead of soil. The hydro means water and ponic relates to water working. So, this system is much useful inside house. We can also use this system for outside garden where we grow fruit plants. Farmers and gardeners can also use this system to grow more fruits in their farms. You can also set this system inside your house.
The hydroponic system is divided in two main types. One is active where you give nutrients and other necessary elements to a plant directly through the water. Here you can use other planting medium like pumice stone, vermiculite, gravel, thick sand, etc. But you must sure that the roots of plants should not get dry. Another is passive hydroponic system, where you put plant roots in a small tub filled with nutritious water. In this system only you have to change the water regularly. Here also you can use other planting material for steady plant roots. The passive system is the simplest Hydroponic system.
In market you will find other system also. But the mechanism is either passive or active. Some people advise to use Aeroponic system, which is another high-tech type of hydroponic system. In this type you hang the roots in air and mists them with nutritious solutions in regular intervals. But as it is passive type of Hydroponic system, be sure the misting cycle does not get interrupted oe else the plant roots will get dry rapidly.

Horticulture is considered by many to be a therapeutic and relaxing hobby. Knowing the right soil to get, which tools to purchase and when you should be planting are a few of the questions gardeners want to know. Read this article for some great gardening tips.
Rid your garden of snails by spraying them with a concoction of water and ammonia. Your valuable plants will not be hurt by the ammonia. In fact, it converts to helpful nitrogen later. You will get rid of the snails on your plants, and they will not cause any more damage to your garden. For maximum effect, spray the ammonia mixture on your garden every day.
Do not rush when planting seeds. Begin by adding moisture to the soil. Then, distribute the seeds evenly, and see to it that they have space to grow. Bury them three times as deep as the size of the seeds. It isn`t necessary to bury all seeds; some of them need light for growth to occur.
When planting anything, think about planting for color so that you have something to enjoy in the fall. It’s not necessary to think this way, however. When it comes to vivid foliage, autumn offers the best opportunity to view it. You can find beautiful maple and beech trees in many different fall colors. When selecting shrubs, consider barberry, hydrangea, or cotoneaster.
Bulbs are the best solution to get flowers in spring and in summer. Not only are bulbs hearty and easy to grow, but they’ll continue to grow as time goes on. Different bulbs will bloom during different time periods. Therefore, if you select your bulbs correctly, you could have blooms in your garden for all of spring and summer.
Try mixing various plants that have different heights to create an interesting garden setup. Plants that grow to be the same height end up uniform and flat looking.
Start your garden by using mulch. In addition, it reduces evaporation of moisture from the soil and minimizes weed growth.
Aid them by dumping any leftover water from steaming vegetables over them. In order to help acidify the soil for plants like gardenias and rhododendrons, you can use coffee and tea grounds. Some types of plant fungus problems can be solved by sprinkling with chamomile tea.
The kind of soil you use will influence the results. The soil may have to be adapted, depending on what types of plants you’re planning for the garden. It’s also possible to make a fabricated area that contains only one type of soil.
Consider planting trees that will produce decorative fall fruit. Many people think of the foliage when it comes to fall, but there are quite a few trees that have colorful fall fruit. Berries range in color from deep reds to orange-reds and yellows, lasting through a good portion of winter, and they provide some nice garden color and food for birds. The best varieties include hawthorn, holly, crab apple and choke berry.
Every garden can benefit from a planting calendar. This calendar should have the dates when each type of plant will go in the garden. Having a schedule will allow you to prepare by making the purchases you need when you need them. Your planting calendar could be written on paper, or you can also have a computer program to make one.
Take the time to spread around five centimeters of organic mulch near your vegetable plants. Mulch is used to keep extra moisture and provide nutrients for your plants. This method will also prevent weeds. You will save time by not pulling weeds.
As fall arrives, it is the time to prepare for planting fall edibles. Rather than putting standard clay vessels into use when planting crops of lettuce and kale, think about using pumpkins instead. Scoop the insides out of the pumpkin, and don’t forget to spray the inside with Wilt-Pruf. This will prevent your pumpkin from rotting. Now this is completed, it is time to get planting!
As you have learned from this article, horticulture can seem like quite the task, yet is manageable if you know what you’re doing. As long as you implement the tips and tricks that you learn, you will have great results. A beautiful garden requires the right tools, soil, water and sunlight.
Container gardening design means that you should have a simple rule or a plan around which you can base the container gardens.
MIMIC THE NATURE
Most container gardens mimic the nature. This means like the forests in the nature, the container garden should have taller elements like the trees, which seem to rise up to the sky. It should also have secondary growth like the shrubs, which fill out the spaces, and short growth like ground covers and vines. The short growth hangs out from the edges of the baskets.
Its important to create a right balance of all three for the container garden to look good. The short growth in the forest is more abundant than the secondary growth and the secondary growth more than the trees in the forest. In the forest all plants are fighting for sunlight and water. In this process there are competing against one another. However, in container gardens this is not likely to happen.
All plants will get their share of nutrients, sunlight and water, though there would be plenty of leaf droppings from the interior sections of the container as plants grow up. In essence for a great container gardening design, you need maximum ground cover and minimum taller plants.
THE THREE RING FORMAT
This format resembles the bull’s eye. With a middle target and then three rings around it. The middle target can be left without container plants and the other three things will have ground cover, secondary growth and the taller elements in that order.
You can leave the target area empty or have a spiked plant. You can also interchange the format of the three rings. Have the ground cover in the second ring. The outer most rings can accommodate the mid sized plants very easily.
VINING PLANTS IN THE SECOND ROW
Most gardeners prefer to plant their vines on the outer most rims against the wall. The vines take the help of the wall and climb up. Sometimes it leaves gaps and this gives the container garden an unfinished look. But you can also plant the vines in the second ring. In the second row, they grow both upwards and outwards and this gives them a billowing look.
These vining trailing pants will also look towards the sky for their sunlight. These plants will look as if they have appeared like magic from other parts of the garden. The gardening design would look a lot less formal and rigid in this way.
PLANTING RANDOMLY
You can plant ground cover pants and tall vining plants randomly and not give the plants a segregated look.
CONCLUSION
As a container gardener, you have to choose the varieties of plants, which look great aesthetically. Alter the design and the pattern of the plants and see which of the container gardening design fits best in your setup.
A lot many times, this is accomplished through trial and error method. As a gardener, you should feel happiness in seeing, smelling and sometimes also eating from your container gardens.
A container garden can be made anywhere that you desire. Become an artist and create and paint your creativity with plants in all types of containers. Container garden needs an able gardener as its very dependent upon the soil and what the gardener does. You can plant almost any type of vegetable, flower, bush, creeper, herbs and any other plants that you fancy. Since container garden is dependent more on the gardener than conventional gardening, gardeners have to take some special care. Container gardens should get apt amount of soil, water, sunlight, fertilizers and pesticides as well as shelter from extreme heat and cold.
ATTRIBUTES OF CONTAINERS
Containers should have ample space for the roots to breath and spread out. If you want window boxes, these will be dependent upon the size of your windows. The size and the shape of the container are dependent upon the plant variety and the plant size that you choose. You can use plastic containers, hanging baskets, clay pots of various size, glazed ceramic tiles and lots more.
To drain the containers well, you should have drainage holes in the bottom. It’s a good idea to have pebbles and stones on top of the drainage holes. These holes prevent water logging in the pots. They also increase the air circulation. If you are reusing the containers, make sure that the container has been cleaned thoroughly to prevent any diseases from attacking the new plants.
GETTING THE RIGHT SOIL
You can use the commercially available potting mixtures that are found in the hardware and gardening shops. Sterilize the garden soil before you use them for garden container. As the garden soil may contain many types of diseases that would be transferred to the containers.
This soil should be rich in organic material such as peat and other composted barks as well as vermiculite which helps to retain the moisture in the soil yet drains the soil well. Moisten the potting soil before you fill the containers. When planting the seedlings, it’s best to soak the soil overnight. Add a good branded fertilizer during planting, which will give your seedling a start.
GETTING SUNLIGHT
All plants need sunlight to grow. Some plants can make do with less and some need more sunlight. Remember this while potting the container garden. Therefore its essential that you read up on the requirements of your container plants before you plant them. Since the sunlight requirement is dependent upon the various varieties of plant.
DECIDE THE PLANTS THAT YOU WANT TO POT
There are so many plants to choose from, that it can boggle your min. therefore its essential that you have a plan for the panting season. Planting a container garden can be difficult, especially for the first timers. Some plants are known as trailers, others are known as fillers, while still others are known as uprights. Some plants can have large blooms, some small and others look great in bunches.
CONCLUSION
You can have a small or a big container garden, which is dependent upon your creativity and the energy that you spend in tending to them.

Container gardening green beans is really quite simple. Green Beans are a great accompaniment to any food whether it’s a steak, chicken or fish. What better way that to enjoy them right out of your garden? But the problem comes, when you have a small patio and not enough space to grow plants in the soil. The alternative to that is container gardening.
Planting The Green Beans
Green beans are very popular and grow best in warm seasons with plenty of sunlight and a good drained soil. Before planting the green beans, you need to rake up the soil properly. The containers that you use should be at least 8 – 10 inches deep for planting the beans. Fertilize the soil thoroughly before you put it in the containers. Read the instructions carefully before the use of fertilizers as too much can kill the plants. There are many kinds of fertilizers that are available in the market, both organic as well as synthetic for container gardening green beans.
Planting Season
Since green beans can’t stand the frost and the cold conditions, its important to plant them when all the danger of the frost has gone away. Plant the green beans in the month of April. For a fall crop its important to plant them at least 12 weeks before the frost. Green beans are usually ready to be harvested within 45-65 days. Use the fungicide treated seeds for planting, as this will protect the crops from any fungus (don’t eat these seeds as they are harmful). Read the instructions carefully.
Varieties Of Green Beans
The various varieties of beans are snap beans, Pinto beans and Lima Beans, that have many sub varieties, all of which are readily available. Green beans also come in the bush variety as well as the pole beans variety. It’s important that the seeds be planted when there is enough moisture content in the soil. This will help the container gardening green beans to germinate faster without additional water.
Watering
Water the plants at least twice a week, as there is more evaporation from the containers. In normal garden soil, beans are watered once during the week in hotter climates. It’s important that the soil have a lot of moisture content, without which the beans wouldn’t bloom. This will lead to a decrease in the yield of the green beans.
Diseases And Pests
Even with container gardening green beans, plants can be susceptible to insects such as Aphids and Spider mates. If spots appear on the pods or the leaves during the cool weather, it’s a symptom of a disease affecting the plant. All insects and diseases can be effectively treated. Check the local hardware shop for pest control methods or ask your local gardeners. As with fungicides and fertilizers its important to read the instructions as well as the warning printed on the label before the use. As these are harmful to pests and children, they shouldn’t be exposed to them, once the pesticides have been applied to the plants.
These are easily available which show the entire process of planting, watering, applying pesticides and fungicides, harvesting and storing of the green beans. They are easily available and can also be ordered online. Normally these orders take a minimum of 5 shipping days depending upon the state that one is located in.
Harvesting Time
The beans must be harvested or plucked when they are about the size of a pencil. The over mature ones are tough. Care should be taken while plucking so as to not hurt the plants. If the beans are plucked when they are ready, the plant will give yield for many more weeks. Beans can easily be stored over a period of time. They can be blanched and stored in airtight containers in the freezer.
Container gardening green beans is very easy and many other vegetables such as cucumber, cherry tomatoes, eggplants, onions and squashes can also be planted. So even in small spaces you can always enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables.
Why You Should Plant Your Own Tomatoes
If you are planting your first garden one of the most favorite vegetables you will want to plant will be tomatoes. Planting and raising and harvesting your own tomatoes will be very satisfying. Nothing is sweeter than a fresh tomato right off the vine and into your mouth. Depending on what type of tomato you like will depend if you plant large size producers or uniform not-so-big fruit producers.
You may want to start your own plants if you have the room indoors or for quicker production you may opt to purchase the already established plants from the local nursery or plant section of the local department store. If you want small salad tomatoes there are several types. Small sizes come in tiny Sweet 100s to grape tomatoes to patio size about the size of a plum. Larger sizes are good for slicing or canning or freezing. When you grow your own you can control what is used for pest control, such as just using flour to get rid of cabbage moths, and hand picking off the tomato horn worms. Using chemicals in the garden not only kills unwanted insects but the useful ones also.
Tomatoes usually are very prolific, so if you are going organic, use manure instead of chemical fertilizers. Some think it is unhealthy to use the chemicals and therefore go all organic. Search the internet or go to the local nursery for advise on organic gardening. Choose your tomato plants and put them in the satisfying location and watch them grow into beautiful productive and surely more nutritious plants for food and profit.
The Best Conditions For Growing Tomatoes
Tomatoes are one of the most popular vegetables grown by home gardeners. They were brought to the colonies from South America and people thought they were poisonous and were not good to eat. Tomatoes require warm weather to grow and bear fruit. The flowers are very sensitive to temperature changes especially at night. Tomatoes grow best in deep loamy soil with plenty of organic matter.
They prefer a slightly acidic soil with a pH of 6.2 to 6.8. Fertilizer should be worked into the soil several weeks before transplanting the plants. When planning for tomatoes you must start them early inside or in a greenhouse. The soil should be kept damp, but not soggy. The plants will need to be hardened by taking them outside in late March so they become accustomed to the cold. You should plant two to three times the amount of seeds you want for a tomato garden.
Then when you plant them outside you only choose the hardiest ones. One way to keep a tomato plant happy is to keep the roots warm. They should be planted in full sun. By folding newspapers into a collar and placing around them they will stay warmer. Also large clear plastic bottles work well to protect the tender plants from March winds. A number of different pests and diseases will attack your tomato plants so prevention is the best way to have good tomatoes. Be sure you don't keep the soil too wet since that will encourage fungus growth.

The Best Soil For Growing Tomatoes
The Ohio State University Extension Service says that the most popular vegetable/fruit for the home gardener is the tomato. It is so versatile and the uses are no many that they are used in every home at least once every day. They can be grown in a relative small amount of space. They can be staked and grown on patios or in large clay pots. As well, they say we can even grow them upside down, hanging in a screened room. One plant can produce eight to 10 pounds of tomatoes. They are low in calories and a good source of vitamin C.
Tomatoes are grown best in a deep, loamy soil, well drained and with a good organic matter of nutrients. Tomatoes grow best in a slightly acidic soil. The fertilizer used should be high in phosphorus. Too much nitrogen can result in large vines that will not produce much fruit. You should work the fertilizer into the soil a couple of weeks before planting the vines. Too much nitrogen will cause the plant to drop the flowers, but a side dressing of nitrogen fertilizer can be applied after the first cluster of flowers have set some fruit.

You may be able to start your tomato plants indoors and set them out after May 20 in Ohio. Check the temperatures in your area. If you are purchasing plants, choose those with straight, sturdy stems about the size of a pencil. They should have about five young leaves, no blossoms or fruit and be free of insects and diseases. Plants in individual containers usually experience little or no transplant shock and become adjusted quickly.
How to Freeze or Can Tomatoes
Freezing tomatoes couldn't be easier and requires minimal supplies. Use home-grown tomatoes or organic tomatoes purchased at a farmer's market. Wash them individually and remove the stems. Fill a large pot halfway with water and bring to a rapid boil. Submerge two or three tomatoes at a time for about 30 seconds, remove with a slotted spoon, and plunge into an ice water bath to stop the cooking process. This will loosen the skins so they peel off easily. Remove the core, any remaining skin, and soft spots with a knife. You can pack them whole, halved, or quartered into zipper freezer bags. Squeeze out any air and lay flat in a freezer. Once frozen, they can be stacked to save space.
To can tomatoes, sterilize the jars and lids. Process the tomatoes as noted above, and then add them to the sterilized jars. Add two tablespoons of lemon juice and fill to the brim with boiling hot water or tomato juice. Use a plastic or wooden spoon to stir along the edges to remove any air bubbles. Seal with lids and rings and put them into a pot of boiling water at least one inch above the lids. Boil pint jars for 40 minutes and quart jars for 45 minutes. Remove from the hot water and let them cool overnight in a draft-free area. Once cool, test the seal by pressing down on the center of the lid. If it pops, the seal isn't tight. These jars can be refrigerated and used up within a couple of weeks.

Roma tomatoes are best because they are meaty and have few seeds, but any meaty type of tomato will suffice. Separation of liquids and solids is normal. Canned or frozen tomatoes will remain good for about one year.
What Are and How to Grow Heirloom Tomatoes
An heirloom tomato is a non-hybrid cultivar of tomato. They have become very popular in the last few years since people are taking an interest in going green and growing their own food. Heirloom tomatoes come in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. The Brandywine tomato has been one of the most popular of the heirloom tomatoes. It is a large red fleshed tomato grown in Ohio and the seeds were traded by the various tomato growers in the area. The seeds were sold in the 1880's by a company called Stokes and Johnson. Several different varieties of the Brandywine were sold so it's past is a bit cloudy.

When you buy your seeds, be sure and buy from a reputable dealer. An heirloom tomato must be open-pollinated and must not be altered genetically. Heirloom tomatoes are classified as a fruit because the seeds are inside like a fruit. You must start the seeds in the house or greenhouse in small containers six to eight weeks before time to plant them outdoors. Be sure the seedlings get plenty of sunlight.

fluorescent bulbs work well if natural sunlight isn't available. Transplant into a larger pot when leaves appear. The plants need to be hardened by putting them in a cold place before they are set in the garden. The garden soil should be well tilled and composted soil. Depending on the size of your garden they can be planted in rows, or simply spaced 12 to 15 inches apart to allow for adequate growth. A drip irrigation system is the ideal way to water the plants.
Container gardens can be grown even in the tiniest of places. For container gardens to be successful, it’s essential that container gardening systems be put into place. With the systems in place, these container gardens can be grown on patios, small balconies, veranda's, window sill's and most anywhere else outdoors. The market for container gardening is estimated at $1.4 billion annually and is growing at twice the rate of conventional gardening. The best part about container gardens is their mobility. You can just hang some baskets and voila, the garden is ready.

The container gardening systems are made up of the following:
Water Systems
Water is essential for plants to grow. The soil in containers loses the moisture content very fast. Therefore, you should water your plants frequently, especially in hotter climates. Rainwater flowing from the rooftops can also be collected in underground tanks that can be used for watering the plants, washing and other purposes. (This is especially helpful for dry and arid areas).
It can be difficult for some people to water their container gardens on a daily basis. To help them get out of this situation, there are many self-watering container gardening kits, which are available in the market. This way, you don’t have to ask your friends and relatives to take care of the plants.
They are priced at $50 and above. The pots have a recessed reservoir of water and a self-timer, which can be set according to the needs of the plants. You can set the timer and the roots would dip into the water for the stipulated time. After which the reservoir would close. This reduces the risk of over watering your plants.
Soil Bio Activation Activities
Fertilizing the plants is an essential element of the container gardening systems. As the plants have to be watered frequently, it leads to the leeching of the nutrients away from the soil, thus the soil needs to be replenished. Nutrients will also keep the pH balance of the soil. Mix slow releasing fertilizer mix pellets into the soil. Follow the instructions on the box. Normally gardeners would add one-quarter strength water-soluble fertilizers in water before sprinkling the plants.
Almost all fruits and vegetables can be grown in container gardens. Container gardening green beans is very popular. Other popular vegetables are squashes, tomatoes, cucumbers and many herbs and fruits. All plants need good soil to grow. You can create your own soil by adding compost and fertilizers to it. Or you can buy the soil from hardware and garden store. Drainage of water in containers is equally important. Sand should be mixed with soil to allow the water to seep through. Excess water in the plants will lead to water logging and the death of the plants. Mix compost and other food products to the soil. This is organic fertilizer for the plants. Introduce earthworms and creatures, which turn the soil inside out. This is helpful for your container gardens.
A healthy container garden attracts the bees, insects and birds that will kill the pests and insects, that destroy the plants in the container garden. In this way, nature will control the bad insects such as aphids and mites. This means that you wouldn't have to use as many pesticides to care for your container garden.
Waste Recycling
Don’t throw away the waste. If you have the space, say a small area on the balcony, you can convert it into a compost pit. Compost pits can even be made in wooden boxes. Of course having a small patch of land is the best. However, compost pits in wooden boxes work as well. Gather all the waste material such as plant clippings, fallen leaves, kitchen waste and food scraps. Water this mixture and keep it covered. Soon the heat inside this mixture will become more than 100 degrees. Soon the mixture will start decomposing. Water this mixture regularly to keep it moist. After 45 – 60 days, the mixture will turn into compost.
Compost is organic fertilizer, which can be used to fertilize the soil of your container garden. Compost is also a great way of recycling the waste, which otherwise would go to a garbage dump. In this way your container garden serves many purposes. By using container gardening systems, you have also recycled the waste!

Container gardening is a great stress buster as well as fat buster. It’s a visual feast for the eyes, especially with the array of fruits, vegetables and shrubs that you can grow. You can even have container gardening color themes. In this way, you can have a blast of colors or keep a few simple colors in your garden. Before looking into different  container gardening color themes, there are a few factors that you should  keep in mind. These are:
Finding The Containers That Suit Your Personality
Too many types of containers will give the garden a very uneven look. Therefore, you should have the same types containers in various shapes, sizes and similar colors. Mix and match a few of the containers and you can create the look that you desire. For showing off beautiful floral arrangements, go for simple containers. Ornate containers would take away the importance and the look of the flowers.
Size Matters
Bigger plants need ample spaces and smaller plants can make do with smaller containers. If you've decided on a single container gardening color theme, then plant the smaller plants in smaller containers as they work best for this scheme. Group these together to have the desired color effect and voila! Your container garden is a visual treat.

Utilization Of Vertical Spaces
Container gardening color themes can also work well using vertical spaces, especially for small apartments. Use a grow pole for hanging and use wall-mounted brackets to hang the baskets. Grow similar flowers or flowers having the same color pattern. You can even color the containers. There are many options that are available and you can easily get them at your local garden supply store or pick them up online.
Use Of Foliage
Foliage is an essential part of container gardening. It provides a backdrop for the flowers, as the arrangement of the flowers will show through the foliage too. Foliage can be soft and shiny, rough or spiky. Foliage can be red, purple, and yellow and can even include variegated plants that are now available. Use a variety of foliage and its many colors apart from the greens to make your container garden stand out.
Keep in mind the container gardening systems as they provide the all important irrigation for your container gardens.
Complement The House
The container gardening color theme should complement the color themes of your living areas, the furniture and the outdoor fixtures and fittings. For example, if you have a southwest style home then you could use your container garden to compliment that theme. While a neutral theme of colors in the house can work with any color range. It’s more challenging to work with bold colors present in the house such as red, yellow and purples.

Container Colors
The color scheme of the container plants should not match that of the containers exactly. Place the plants in containers that don’t distract the eye from the plant itself.  For example, ornamental flowers should be planted in very subtle containers. This adds to the beauty of the ornamental flowers.
Soil Mix Is Very Important For The Plants
Container gardening soil should be light and crumble in your hands, yet is able to retain moisture for the plants. A good drainage in the plants is equally important. The drainage should be just right. There are many soil mixes, which are available in garden shops. There are many recipes that will work well for the soil mix. Ask a local gardener which soil would suit your plants the best. There are also many types of fertilizers and pesticides to enrich the soil as well as other products. Both organic, as well as, chemical products are easily available.
Note The Weather And The Climatic Conditions Of The Area
Do this before you decide on the color theme. For example, the amount of sunlight available, the wind conditions, the summer heat and the winter chill. Then decide on the plants that can be potted in your container garden. Nothing is more discouraging than putting in a lot of time and effort into something like container gardening and then having your plants begin to die one by one. Don't be concerned though. You should be fine just by paying attention to detail, reading the instructions on your supplies thoroughly and asking questions about anything that you're not sure of.
Your container gardening color themes will then be based on these various conditions and factors.

Gardening is a joy for many people and a very creative, as well as satisfying hobby. Space can be a constraint for many people and can make traditional gardening next to impossible. However, container gardening can come to your rescue. There are many container gardening eBooks, which can teach you how to build a beautiful container garden in your home. In fact, any small space, be it a patio or a porch, can be turned into a container garden.
Plant List for Container Gardening
There are many plants that can be grown in a container garden. The plant list for container gardening includes the following; Geraniums, Marigolds, Pansies, Petunias, Zinnias, Snap dragons and vegetables such as Watermelons, Cherry Tomatoes, Egg Plant and more. Almost all flowers and vegetables can be planted in a container garden. You can make containers out of wooden boxes, plastic containers, or old bottles that have wide mouths. You can get as creative as possible with container gardens. There are many container gardening eBooks, which list many more plants that can be grown in containers.

Container Gardening Color Themes
You can also have particular container gardening color themes. Most container gardening eBooks state that the color themes should complement the color themes in the house as well as those in the patio and outdoor fixtures such as the fence and the chairs, which are kept. It’s also important to have foliage, as this will make the flower arrangements stand out. There are a variety of containers that can liven up the space such as terracotta and clay containers, ceramic and cement containers, etc.

Weather Conditions
Container gardening can be done almost anywhere and is most suited for small spaces such as small apartment blocks, condos, rooftop gardening, areas having bad or poor ground soil, etc. It’s a great way to relax and beginners, as well as advanced; gardeners can have fun with it. When planting a container garden, it’s important to note the weather conditions in your area year around, especially if you intend to keep your plants primarily outdoors. The amount of sunlight that the space gets (intended for container gardening) during the day, as well as heat and frost conditions are important.

Use Vertical Spaces
A container gardener can either go in for the perennial plants or seasonal plants. The choices are immense. Use the vertical areas of your growing space by hanging baskets and using poles for the shrubs and creepers to grow on them. Use the window sills to hang a basket full of different flowers or herbs. The herbs will provide fresh ingredients to your kitchen and an aroma that’s beautiful. Also, by planting the same flowers in different containers of various sizes and shapes, you can make your house dazzle.
Make certain that your containers have the appropriate soil, have adequate (enough) soil and are sheltered from harsh heat and cold conditions. Regular weeding and pest control must be done as required.

Container Gardening Systems
These are important for your container gardens. Since there is more evaporation from the containers, they'll require more moisture in the soil. Frequent watering is a must and the drainage of water should be good or else there might be water logging which is harmful for the plants.

Container gardening is great for growing many vegetables such as green beans, tomatoes, summer squash, cucumber and many herbs such as coriander, rosemary, basil, thyme, nutmeg and more. Container gardening green beans is not very difficult either. Green beans can’t stand the cold, therefore they should be planted as seedlings only after the frost has completely gone away in the month of April. They can be harvested within a period of 45-65 days. You can use a grow pole for hanging the pole variety of green beans or you can plant them as the bush variety. They are very prolific and can be planted and harvested in a continuous cycle.
